From Experience to Essentials:
Tools for Buying & Renovating in Italy
When searching for new projects in Italy, we often found ourselves walking through houses full of charm and potential—driven by emotion rather than structure. And every time we got home, we’d realize: “Wait… did we check that?” or “How did we miss that detail?”
Even with our background in construction, we overlooked things—like in our first home here in Italy, where the roof was supposedly in great condition… yet there were buckets placed everywhere. You’d think that with years of experience, we wouldn’t make that mistake, right? Well, we did. And if it happened to us, it probably happens to many others too.
That’s why I, Jennifer, as a structural engineer, created a structured approach for property viewings, breaking it down into 8 clear sections to make sure you don’t miss a thing. This checklist is the first of many digital tools we’re developing to help others navigate the challenges of buying and renovating in Italy.
Right now, we’re also working on a structured method for managing renovations—because handling a renovation professionally was our daily job, and we know how overwhelming it can be, especially in a foreign country. With the right framework, you can bring clarity and control to the process.
More to come! From renovation planning to insider tips, we’re building a collection of resources to make your journey easier.
