Where to Stay in Monferrato & Langhe

A Curated Selection of Beautifully Designed Holiday Homes in Piemonte

Monferrato and Langhe are among the most compelling regions in Piemonte for those looking for a holiday home in Italy with character. Known for their UNESCO-listed rolling hills, vineyards and historic villages, this area offers a quieter and more authentic alternative to Italy’s more touristic regions. Tourism here remains small scale, which makes the experience feel personal rather than packaged.

Beautiful views are easy to find, but holiday homes with atmosphere, comfort and well-considered interiors are far less common. In this blog, I share a curated selection of holiday homes in Monferrato and Langhe that stand out for their design, location and overall sense of calm.

We have stayed at or visited all of these places ourselves, either privately or through our work. Like all information we share, this is not a paid or sponsored blog.

Rolling hills of Monferrato and Langhe in Piemonte, Italy

B&B Casa Caprioli

Personal Hospitality in The Langhe

Casa Caprioli is one of those places you never quite want to leave. Set among vineyards and hazelnut trees on the edge of Monferrato and the Langhe, this former farmhouse in Bubbio feels calm, grounded and genuinely welcoming.

In 2025, owners Lisa and Erik created three thoughtfully designed apartments within the farmhouse. Each space feels warm and relaxed, with natural materials and soft colours that never compete with the surroundings. Outside, the garden and pool open up to green hill views, making it easy to spend entire days without plans. And last but not least, Lisa takes care of a perfect breakfast and they know all the good places around! www.casacaprioli.com

Holidayhomes The Casetta 1&2

Two Hidden Gems in The Langhe

The Casetta by Diego is for those who truly want to switch off. These are two small-scale private holiday homes, each with its own pool, set at the very end of the road.

  • The Casetta 1 (Bubbio) sleeps 4 guests

  • The Casetta 2 (Loazzolo) sleeps 6 guests

Surrounded by woodland, vineyards and silence, these restored stone houses combine rustic character with clean, contemporary lines. Nothing feels excessive, everything feels intentional. We stayed ourselves at Casetta 1, and it remains one of our most memorable holidays in Piemonte. Casetta 2 we have not visited yet, but it is created by the same hand and clearly follows the same quality. Link Casetta 1 Link Casetta 2

B&B Casa Dormiveglia

Creativity To It’s Finest

Casa Dormiveglia in Montaldo Bormida stands out immediately, both inside and out. Owner Inge, who comes from a fashion background, has shaped the house with a very personal and confident eye.

The B&B offers a small number of individually styled rooms, all calm, light and carefully put together. Contemporary lines are mixed with vintage pieces, creating spaces that feel inspiring yet comfortable. Set among vineyards and quiet countryside, this is a place for people who notice detail but value ease just as much. www.casadormiveglia.com

What all these holiday homes in Monferrato and Langhe have in common is their small scale, their connection to the landscape and the way interiors support rather than dominate the experience.

Holidayhome Casa Balau

Collected Cozyness

Casa Balau is a seven-bedroom, five-bathroom former wine farmhouse in Costigliole d’Asti that feels more like a private home than a holiday rental. Located among the vineyards of Costigliole d’Asti, the house balances contemporary comfort with original features such as stone vaults and old fireplaces.

The interiors are generous and warm, clearly designed for long dinners and time spent together. Outside, a pool, sauna and terrace overlook the hills. This is a place where good design quietly supports daily life without ever becoming the focus. www.casabalau.it

B&B Villa Curte Nicia

Home-Baked Breakfasts

Villa Curte Nicia is an elegant countryside guest house in Nizza Monferrato, run by kind Alessia and her family. The B&B offers several guest rooms, each with its own character, blending classic Italian charm with modern comfort. You’ll feel super welcome here!

A Little Dutch Paradise in Monferrato

Tenuta il Casteletto is a glamping stay set on a hilltop among hazelnut groves and vineyards near Nizza Monferrato. The estate offers a mix of lodge tents and apartments, combining comfort with a strong sense of place.

Nothing here feels overdone. Shared spaces, the pool and the views invite slow mornings and long evenings, often spent around food and wine. A good example of how glamping in Piemonte can feel grounded, relaxed and thoughtfully designed. www.tenutailcastelletto.it

B&B Lindhouse

A Warm Welcome in Roero

Lindhouse is a small and intimate retreat in Govone, in the Roero hills, created especially for couples and cycling enthusiasts. It consists of two apartments, each with a quiet, personal interior that feels calm rather than styled.

Natural materials, soft textiles and a outdoor hot tub invite real downtime. Surrounded by vineyards and close to small villages and castles, Lindhouse is ideal for guests looking for the best tips, privacy and a refined sense of calm. www.lindhouse.it

Holidayhome Casa Rosilda

Nordic Calm in Monferrato

Casa Rosilda is a warm and welcoming holiday home set among the vineyards of Nizza Monferrato. The house offers multiple bedrooms 5+1, making it suitable for families or small groups. The house itself is beautiful with the garden and pool around it, a super luxurious feel.

Recently renovated, it combines exposed stone with relaxed living spaces and a kitchen designed for shared meals. The atmosphere is easy and unpretentious, making it a pleasant base for exploring the area or simply staying in. Lieve and her team from Viva Piedmont make sure you’ll enjoy your time because you can book a private chef, brunches etc. www.vivapiedmont.com

Apartments Tenuta dei Vicini

Central Location and All The Freedom

Tenuta dei Vicini is a former estate from 1876 that has been transformed into three spacious apartments. Original stone floors and vaulted ceilings have been preserved, while comfort and clarity have been added throughout. Each apartment has it’s own style.

Shared outdoorspaces, including a pool and garden, overlook the vineyards and offer plenty of room without feeling crowded. Well suited for guests who appreciate space, good materials and a calm, well-considered environment. www.tenutadeivicini.com

Holidayhome Casa Bansella

Authentic Beauty At It’s Best

Casa Bansella sits on a hilltop in Agliano Terme, housed in a former winery barn. As Boy put it: one of the most impressive places he has seen in Piemonte.

The house offers five bedrooms and generous indoor and outdoor spaces. A pool overlooks the hills, while terraces and outdoor areas naturally invite long meals and slow afternoons. A house made for being together, without unnecessary polish. www.casabansella.com

A Few Final Thoughts & Tips

What these places share is not a specific style, but a shared attitude. None of them are about excess or perfection. They work because the houses, interiors and surroundings are in balance, and because choices have been made with care rather than speed.

That is also what makes Monferrato and Langhe so compelling. This is a region where quality still outweighs quantity, where tourism remains small scale, and where it is possible to create places that feel personal and lasting.

If visiting Piemonte sparks the idea of creating such a place yourself, it is worth taking a moment to explore our website. We share a free guide that helps you navigate buying a property in Italy, and we support clients during renovation, design and the phase that follows. Meet the Writer

This blog was written by Jennifer Kenters-Building engineer and designer-passionate to make it easier for others to navigate the Italian home-buying process.

After renovating historic buildings in the Netherlands for years, I moved to Italy where I now work with buyers and homeowners who want to transform old farmhouses, apartments and holiday homes into something functional, comfortable and beautiful.

Through our own cascina renovation in Piemonte, I quickly realised how different the Italian building culture is, how easily important details are overlooked, and how valuable it is to have a clear structure from the very beginning. That is why I created this renovation series, sharing the practical steps, technical insights and lessons I wish every new homeowner had access to.

Today, Boy and I visit properties regularly and guide others through the technical and design stages of their renovation. Combining craftsmanship, construction knowledge and design, we help people make informed decisions before they start the building process.

Want to follow our journey? I share daily updates on our renovation projects, insights, and life in Italy over on Instagram , come say hi!
